The neutral referee for DEX execution quality.

ClearTrace benchmarks every major DEX aggregator the same way — quote accuracy, slippage, revert rates, RFQ routing at size, and MEV exposure — against the same on-chain baseline, with published methodology and a timestamped record you can cite in a governance forum or a MiCA best-execution file.

For foundations, grants & protocols

Did your incentives buy real users — or just volume? ClearTrace answers it with on-chain proof.

Trace the untagged flow

On Arbitrum, the three largest DEX-routing contracts are unattributed — hundreds of millions in volume that standard, metadata-based tools can't trace. We resolve who's really behind it.

Verify incentive ROI

Separate organic, interface-driven volume from wash, proxy, and bot activity — per grant recipient — so you can report to your DAO and token holders with confidence.

Cite neutral benchmarks

Per-chain execution-quality scores, revert rates, and MEV exposure — published with transparent methodology you can quote directly in governance.

Engagements range from a one-time per-chain integrity report to standing monthly monitoring for your grants team.

Built for transparency

Stop trusting marketing claims. The same on-chain engine that powers our engagements is open to explore.

VWAP Slippage Tracking

We compare the effective execution price of trades against a 1-minute VWAP oracle, giving you the true cost of execution.

Sandwich / MEV Detection

We detect sandwich patterns (Frontrun → Victim → Backrun) in block ordering and report the attacks and value sandwiched as a separate metric — not folded into the slippage score.

Revert Rate Benchmarks

Aggregators that promise tight slippage often force higher revert rates. We track exactly how often trades fail on-chain.

Routing Topology

Visualize exactly which liquidity pools (Uniswap, Curve, Balancer) aggregators are utilizing to fill orders.

Our methodology

How we ensure strictly neutral, tamper-proof benchmarking.

01

On-Chain Data Extraction

We index every single DEX trade directly from blockchain RPC nodes and Dune Analytics, completely bypassing aggregator APIs which can be manipulated.

02

VWAP Oracle Comparison

Execution prices are compared against an objective 1-minute Volume-Weighted Average Price (VWAP) oracle to calculate the true cost of execution.

03

MEV Heuristics Engine

Our algorithms scan transaction ordering within blocks to identify sandwich attacks and quantify the value sandwiched, reported separately from the slippage score.

Built for developers

Integrate our execution benchmarks — slippage, revert rates, and MEV detection — directly into your apps.

  • MEV-Protection Alerts

Warn your wallet users if a transaction is likely to be sandwiched before they sign it.

  • Better Routing

Incorporate our VWAP slippage baselines to optimize your own aggregator or swap router.

  • Contract Labeling

Use our machine-learning pipeline to label obscure smart contracts and MEV bots.

  • Bulk Attribution Data

Ingest our complete dataset of over 172,000 attributed contracts to power your own analytics pipeline.

Frequently asked questions

Understand the mechanics of on-chain execution and attribution.

What is DEX execution quality?

DEX execution quality measures the difference between an expected quoted price and the actual executed price on-chain. ClearTrace evaluates this by comparing realized execution prices against a 1-minute Volume-Weighted Average Price (VWAP) oracle to calculate the true cost of trades.

How does ClearTrace measure MEV toxicity?

ClearTrace detects sandwich attacks (frontrun → victim → backrun) by scanning transaction ordering within blocks, and reports the number of attacks and the total value sandwiched. This MEV exposure is published as a separate metric — it is not folded into the slippage score, and we do not currently publish a per-aggregator MEV-toxicity rate.

What is cross-frontend attribution?

Cross-frontend attribution is the process of identifying the true origin interface of a decentralized exchange trade. ClearTrace uses calldata suffix trapping, proxy-router hunting, and multi-hop origin tracing to unmask hidden mobile apps, institutional smart wallets, and private frontends.

Why not just use quoted prices from DEX aggregators?

Quoted prices from DEX aggregators often do not account for slippage, MEV extraction, or high revert rates. ClearTrace provides neutral benchmarking using strictly on-chain data, bypassing aggregator APIs to reveal the actual cost of execution and true slippage.

Who is ClearTrace for, and do you offer custom reports?

ClearTrace serves L2 foundations, grant programs, and protocol teams that need to prove where their DEX volume really comes from. Alongside the free dashboard and API, we deliver paid per-chain integrity reports and standing monitoring engagements — book a pilot report to start.
